Our Brisbane dance school operates after-school hours and on weekends, delivering kids dance classes and dance for Brisbane kids.
Our dance program delivers exceptional training in classical ballet, jazz dance, contemporary dance, pointe technique, eisteddfod competition solos, eisteddfod dance groups, tap dance, acrobatics and musical theatre classes. Students can enter Royal Academy of Dance ballet exams or CSTD Modern Jazz Dance, CSTD Contemporary Dance and CSTD Latin Syllabus examinations. Our dance studios have been designed to accommodate performers of any age, gender or experience level. From little beginners to advanced professionals, Arête Dance offers dance classes for every dancer.

classical ballet
|
Brisbane dance studio, Arête Dance offers classes in classical ballet for kids. The purpose of classical ballet is to tell the audience a story through mime and physical virtuosity. Technical focus, artistry, virtuoso and flexibility are all artistic elements that are combined to make a ballet performance what it is. Everything from intricate set designs to elegant costumes and makeup are crucial to a ballerina’s tale and the overall impression on the audience.

At Arête Dance, we are proud to have industry leaders of classical ballet within our mentor program and faculty. Offering world-renowned guidance and instruction, our students are blessed to have access to an absolute wealth of knowledge.
PERFORMANCE SQUAD

At Arete Dance Studios, we offer our dancers the opportunity to participate in dance eisteddfods and competitions. We regularly attend Queensland Dance Eisteddfods and competitions and we prepare our dancers in both group and solo dance performances.

acrobatics

We offer dance acrobatics classes and basic gymnastics techniques to our dancers. Flexibility, strength, teamwork and technical form are some of the core enablers for success in acrobatics and gymnastics. Instructed in a fun-filled, challenging and semi-formal environment, our acro classes have students learning beginner and advanced routines.
Arête gymnastics and acrobatics lessons are practiced on the safety of our sprung flooring. We also use purpose-designed equipment, crash mats and flooring mats. Safety is always paramount in the teaching of this genre in particular. |
commercial jazz

Arête commercial jazz dance classes are fun and sprightly. Our lessons involve bold and distinctive moves such as big leaps, quick turns and intricate footwork, as well as the latest routine styles.
As with any style, jazz compliments and reflects the emotion and energy of the music. |
contemporary Dance
|
Contemporary dance is an expressive art form. It was pioneered by the likes of Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham, who believed dancers should be free to express their deepest feelings through movement of originality. Contemporary techniques challenge the normality of other styles and extends the dancer's repertoire through more intricate floor work, leaps, turns and change of balance.
We encourage our students to participate in a contemporary dance class, as it gives them a fantastic sense of relaxation, enjoyment and presentation. |
AERIAL ARTS

At Arete Dance Studios, we offer classes in aerial silks and Lyra to students from beginner to advanced levels.
Our coaches work through the safety aspects of these skills first and then gradually move through the positions of each apparatus until routines can be performed. Our dancers absolutely love these classes and develop some valuable skills that give them diversity as they grow as performers. |
musical theatre

Musical theatre combines singing, acting and dancing to shape performing artists. Students of our musical theatre program receive tuition and coaching in vocals, stagecraft, contemporary dance methods, presentation and much more.
Our musical theatre students receive opportunities to showcase their skills with auditions and performances throughout the year. No matter the age or skill level, all our students will have access to our performance programs in Brisbane. |

Tap dance was dawned from a fusion of traditional Irish and British clogging during early America. Legends such as Gene Kelly spruced and revolutionised this unique style, further diversifying and energising this genre.
With commercial and technical qualities conveyed in a colourfully expressive style, tap is one of our most popular classes. Tap dance is an essential element for the avid performing artist’s repertoire |
BODY CONDITIONING

During Body Conditioning classes at Arete Dance, students will study Pilates and Yoga based conditioning exercises to support and enhance their dance technique.
We place a great deal of importance on these classes an encourage all of our dancers to attend in order to better themselves on their dance journey. |
